Blogging... Again!?

Welcome! I really am not sure what I’m doing here; starting a new blog in the midst of everything else going on. But occasionally late nights I struggle with a weird form of insomnia where I refuse to lay down or recognize that laying down will create a desire to sleep; and instead I find new projects and systems with which to engage and learn about until 0200 rolls around and the overwhelming desire to rest finally takes me.

I’m Chris- a former/occasional attorney, software program manager, marketing guru, systems & infrastructure geek and ex-CEO. In my downtime I tinker with the systems running in my homelab environment- a place where dozens of terabytes of spinning rust store every piece of my digital life for the last few decades and a sandbox for me to test new software, tools, systems and frameworks. In my ‘active’ time I am the husband to a brilliant, beautiful, driven, wonderfully fun-loving physician and US Air Force officer; an avid home cook, home tech support, an active traveler, and many things more. Some have suggested I flip/flop the ‘active’ and ‘downtime’, but I think as-is works just fine.

I’ve decided to start cataloguing my systems and my software, my trials, my recipes, my thoughts, my work, and the fun travels around the world of my wife and I in hopes of having a repository for future reference. Join me as I embark on this journey of diagramming the future in true Agile PM fashion: with limited documentation and scattershot ‘move fast, break things’ mentality. Stuff will be broken.

What’s in a name?

Trust me it’s very stupid. But I went with 061191 as my ecosystem’s URL and name for a couple of reasons.

  1. It’s a numerical representation of me
  2. .XYZ top-level domains were wildly inexpensive when I was building my homelab services
  3. It makes me drastically harder to search for and find successfully; which is not usually a goal one works toward but I’m clearly playing on hard mode

Welcome to 061191!
